Hola!

Después iremos a Wall Street y el World Trade Center.

Hi again! New York City was awesome. We did a lot, so I’ll try to keep it brief. First off, we went to NYC by train and subway, which in itself was really fun (I love the subway). We then quickly ran through the pounding rain outside and dropped our luggage (5 backpacks) at our hosts’ lovely apartment. Then we said hi to Ms. Chrissy and Mr. Jon, who were super nice, and ate a yummy lunch of bagels (Ms. Chrissy was mom’s roommate in college). We had been at some other friends’ house the day before, the Vanderwoudes, who are also totally awesome, and so I had already had a delicious bagel that morning. I was in bagel heaven!
Then we ventured out into the rain again. First we stopped at an overwhelmingly huge Nordstrom that had just opened (as in, finished construction type thing) and were trying to get Hazel some shoes, but we quickly abandoned that. She decided to just go with her wet ones. Then we walked through Central Park to the Museum of Natural History. The museum was really cool and we made sure to check out the huge blue whale exhibit! After that we met Ms. Chrissy for some Mexican food for dinner. It was really loud but had good food. I got an Elote Loco (one of my all time favorite foods, also known as Street Corn)! Then we went back to the penthouse and crashed.
The next day we walked around on Wall Street and visited the World Trade Center. We also went to the 9/11 memorial, which left me both awestruck and solemn. The memorial was really well done, however we didn’t get to go to the museum because the line was so long. After that we took the subway to John’s pizza, which had fantastic pizza! Then we went to the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and spent a good 3 hours there, all the way until it closed. My favorite artwork was by Claude Monet.
On our final, full day we walked on the High Line (an old railroad track about 4 building stories in the air turned walking path) and went to the Statue of Liberty! The High Line was beautiful and there were some really cool buildings around it. We also stopped at Shake Shack for lunch in the mall, which was really fun and delicious. After that we took the subway to the spot where the Statue of Liberty ferry would be. This is where the day got a little crazy. First off, it took us an hour just to go through security and get on the boat. Second of all, the Statue was really cool, and we were able to go up to the pedestal, but it was really crowded. And on top of all that, Mom’s back was really hurting her. Plus, we were going to try and go to a Broadway show that night. We finally decided to use that as a good excuse to come back to NYC, and simply chillaxed that night. Best decision ever.
The last thing we did in the morning was go to the New York Times Square, which was an assault on my senses. The sight, the sound, the smell, all of it was in stark contrast. Flashing and bright colors were everywhere, there were a bazillion different videos and music playing and the general amazing and atrocious smells (mostly atrocious) were multiplied by 10. It was awesome. So before my “brief” blog becomes way long, I just want to say that my first trip to New York City was insane and totally wicked!!!!!!!

So glad that you got to see so much of NYC. It is certainly a city of diversity. When I was in my 20s I used to live on East 34th Street.
Wow girls you are big!! NYC is nice lots of things to do!! Hello to everybody
Hi Liz! So good to hear from you, the girls say hi too 🙂
I love NYC too! The subway is easy, walking from one end to the other is fun, and yes, the 911 Memorial is moving. Did you go to Central Park. I LOVE that park! I am taking my 10 yr old granddaughter next fall and it will be the first time I go to the Statue of Liberty and a broadway show. Looking forward to it. Loved your write up about it and the photos!
Thank you! I hope you have fun with your granddaughter! Sounds fun!
