Mom and Dad planned a surprise trip to Alaska! I was so excited! We left on Thursday August 18. So we went to the Seattle airport to take an Alaskan Airlines flight. We decided to go to the Alaskan Lounge and chill there. There was this super cool pancake machine, it was the best thing EVER!!!!! It cooked the pancakes instantly, and they were super delicious too! We hopped on the plane and a few hours later we were in Juneau, Alaska!! We hopped on another plane and then we arrived in Gusteavus! We took a shuttle bus (which was basically an old school bus) to the Glacier Bay Lodge and found our hotel room. It was the coolest room ever!! There was a double bed and a bunk, I got the top bunk! We dropped all our stuff at the hotel, then went to dinner. The food was actually pretty good!
The next day for breakfast I got two large pancakes that I could only eat half of, but were definitely delicious. Then we went on a hike for a while to a pretty river. We saw some birds but no bears. We took a walk on a rocky beach and saw a sea otter though! We also went to a tribal house to learn about the Tlingit Indian tribe! The man giving the talk was really cool, he was a member of the Tlingit tribe and told us stories about his tribe. We got to pet otter fur too!

The next day we went on the day boat to see Johns Hopkins Glacier. But on the way we saw TONS of wildlife. We saw whales, seals, sea lions, sea otters, three AWESOME bears, and more!! When we got to the Glacier I was mind – blown! Imagine a river of ice but way cooler! With seals laying on icebergs in front. They looked like sausages laying on ice! The day after that was kind of a lazy day, we chilled in the lobby, did a ranger talk with an awesome park ranger named Nicole and left for the plane at 4 pm. I discovered I want to live in Alaska! It was hard to wave goodbye to amazing ALASKA!

Great post Hazel. Love the picture of you looking at Bartlett River. Lucky you to see such great wildlife!
Tell Ava that I like her hairdo and hope to see some of her pictures soon.
The pictures are so awesome Hazel! What was the temperature while you were there? Was it very cold?
Thanks, and yes it was freezing at times! Hope I can play Fortnite with you guys soon! 😋
Awesome!!!! Sounds like an absolute blast!
Great entry, Hazel. You’ve really gotten the knack of letting your personality come charging through. Your excitement was contagious and reminded us of our wonderful trip up there. We loved Alaska as much as you did. Keep up the wonderful stories. Eileen Nechas
