Grand Teton National Park

As much as I loved traveling through the National Parks in southern CO and UT, I have to admit I am very happy to be headed back north. We drove up with not much more than a hope that we could get a spot in the park.  We got lucky and found an outstanding spot – with a short hike to a beautiful river and a fantastic view of the main Teton range.  I’ve never been to Grand Teton before now.  Pretty much all I can say is, “Wow!”  What an amazing place.

We did multiple hikes through thick pine and aspen forests, walked past a number of fast moving rivers and small waterfalls, took a quick dunk in a glacier lake and saw as much wildlife as we had seen anywhere.  One night during dinner at a picnic table in our camp a bald eagle flew over.  That was followed by moose, elk, pronghorn and even a beaver – all in just a couple of days.  We did get word of a bear on a trail in front of us, but it had moved on before we got there.  Still not sure if that is a good thing or a bad thing…

Nothing but good things to say about Teton – the wildlife, the beautiful mountains, the bike paths that literally allowed you to go everywhere, and even the nearby town of Jackson.  It is definitely on the list of places to return and spend more time.

The only ridiculous thing that happened was when we tried to get our little Ford Focus (the car we tow behind Mobi) washed.  The machine broke and washed only one-half the car.  So the driver side was great, nice and shiny.  The passenger side was still so dirty you couldn’t even see out the windows.  The crazy part was the kid running the machine who tried to tell me all was good.  The owner was better, gave us our money back and shut the machine down for maintenance. Even with that silliness as a finale, really LOVED this park!
