When our first daughter, Ava, was born we heard all the usual maxims. "The days are long, the years are short...they grow up so fast...enjoy these years, they will be off to college before you know it." If you have kids - you have heard them all too. We were sleep deprived and climbing corporate ladders so we nodded in agreement and moved on to the next thing that needed our collective attention.

When we had our second daughter, Hazel, and started to double down on financial planning, the timeline looked so....predictable. Savings for college, retirement and other milestones, the classic stuff of being responsible grownups in America. We were planning our financial lives based on the destination, not on the journey. It sort of felt like we were missing (part of) the point. So I lobbed the proverbial BHAG (Big Hairy Audacious Goal) on our family financial plan. Dan, ever the amazing partner and crazy good sport, said "sure." And so the RV trip was born. 10 years later... here we go!
